2020 was a very busy period for the band AnamA. Even with the pandemic, the band was very active, participating in several online festivals across South America and releasing several singles, which culminated in the release of the EP “Tales of Doubt and Death”, which came out in physical format in 2021.
After the release of the EP, some changes in AnamA’s lineup took place and in April 2022 the band returned to the stage for a show in Santo André with drummer Maycon Phantons in the line up. Right after this show, drummer Maycon leaves AnamA to dedicate himself to other projects, but from this period in which he was in the band, the song “Dark Night” was re-recorded, originally released on the first album, self-titled “AnamA” and which won a new version now in 2022.
About this re-recording, vocalist and keyboardist Babi Bueno comments:” ‘Dark Night’ is a re-recording of our first album and shows a maturing of the band. We wanted to have released the song last year, in an edition commemorating the band’s 10th anniversary, but due to numerous factors, it was not possible at that time. But we always believed in the song and for this year we could finally bring you this re-recording and we hope you all enjoy it, as much as we do. ‘Dark Night’ also marks the entry of our bassist Lucas Bernardes, who has been in the band since last year, but only now we were able to release a song with him on bass”.
About the lyrics of “Dark Night”, Babi comments: “The lyrics talk a lot about our fears, our anxieties, they are metaphors for all that we feel, this dark night and all those thoughts that come to our minds and that scares you. What’s your fear? That’s the big question of ‘Dark Night’ “.
The song was produced by Wecko, at the Dual Noise studio in São Paulo and both the cover and the lyric video were made by guitarist Caio Garibaldi, from AnamA itself.
